Privacy Policy

Tellable YouTube Clip does not transmit your captions, translations, saved phrases, video titles, URLs, or language preferences. The extension does not require an account and is not linked to any thegakko.com account.

• YouTube caption text — read from the active YouTube watch page when you capture a line or hover a word. • YouTube comment text — read on the page to offer inline translation. • Your language preferences — the source/target language pair you choose.

Captured phrases (caption text, translation, video title, timestamp URL, and the date you saved them) are stored only in your browser's IndexedDB. Your language preferences are stored in chrome.storage.sync, managed by Chrome. If you are signed in to Chrome, Chrome may sync this small preference between your own devices; the extension itself does not operate any server.

Translation is performed on-device using Chrome's Built-in AI (Translator / Gemini Nano). Caption text is not sent to Tellable YouTube Clip, to Tellable, or to any third-party translation service.

Usage analytics is off until you explicitly allow it. If enabled, Tellable YouTube Clip sends an anonymous random installation ID, the app name, and one daily active event through the developer's Cloudflare Worker to Google Analytics. Captions, translations, saved phrases, video titles, URLs, names, email addresses, and advertising identifiers are not included. You can turn analytics off at any time under Privacy & usage.

• Storage — to save captured phrases locally and remember your preferred language pair. • Active Tab — to read caption text from the YouTube tab you are currently viewing. • Host access to youtube.com — to read the caption DOM on YouTube watch pages. • Host access to the developer analytics backend — only after opt-in, to send one anonymous daily active event. The extension does not request the "scripting" permission, and loads no remote code — all code ships with the extension.

• We do not use trackers, cookies, or advertising identifiers. • We do not send learning content to the analytics service. • We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties.

When you click "Export CSV", a file is generated locally and downloaded to your computer. What happens to that file afterward is under your control.

Uninstalling the extension removes its IndexedDB storage and synced preferences. You can also clear saved phrases at any time from the popup.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will note them on the store listing.
